Hard to find car parking, even when having phoned hotel prior to arrival. Had to stop off and get map and directions from another hotel.
Everything else great.

One full day is enough for the centre of the old town.

Lovely hotel with large bedrooms and helpful staff.
Delicious breakfast-charged extra for cappucino.
Great location.
Note: Hotel entrance is difficult to find when arriving at night.

Chatam Sofer Mausoleum (see Jewish Bratislava booklet from Tourist Information) definitely worth a visit. Phone first to ensure that the free personal guide is there.
However the Castle and the Jewish museum are closed for restoration and refurbishment.

Really lovely hotel. The rooms overlooking the inner courtyard area are very quiet. Could not get a non-smoking room, though :-(

When booking a taxi for the airport the receptionist told me that a local taxi would not be cheaper than their limousine service! However the limousine driver was polite, helpful and chatty.

The Art William is well located in the pedestrian zone of the old town. It is a contemporary hotel located above an arcade of fashion shops which include Armani, Gianfranco Ferrer and La Perla. Reception is in a retail unit in the arcade. Its easy not to recognise it as a hotel at night. The building retains its original facade and the rooms at the front are very spacious with high ceilings. Furnishings are modern and of high quality. Rooms have flat screen TV's, A/C and LAN internet access. The bathrooms feature polished black granite surfaces and mosaic tiled walls.

Bratislava Old Town offers a vast array of shops, bars and restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets. Top restaurants include Le Monde, Mezzo Mezzo and Fish Gate, where you can expect to pay Western European prices. Look a little further afield however and you can eat well for under £10. The Casa del Angelli next to the Art William is a casual Italian Bistro with an extensive outside seating area offering excellent food and value for money. There are also many traditional Slovak restaurants serving hearty dishes and good beer at bargain prices.
Bratislava is rich in cultural and architectural history. The castle is the main symbol of Old Bratislava and has been in use for both defence and as royal residence over the years. It has commanding views over the Danube.
The old town is a tapestry of architectural history and buildings dating back as far as the 15th century still survive. It is a compact area and easily walked, but a trolley bus also offers a narrated tour.
A worthwhile trip is Vienna, by boat. The Twin City Liner is in fact a high speed catamaran which connects Bratislava and Vienna in about an hour. This is about the same connection time as the train but operates from the very heart of each city and of course offers spectacular views of the Danube.
